Ms. Jackelyn Moraca, an MSc in Ocean Sciences student at the University of the Philippines Visayas, successfully defended her thesis proposal on September 29, 2026. Her proposed study is titled “Assessment of Macrofauna and Sediment Characteristics Across Different Mangrove Stands in Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.”
Her thesis committee comprised Dr. Sheila Mae Santander De-Leon (Adviser) and panel members Dr. Severino G. Salmo III and Dr. Dominique Mediodia.
Ms. Moraca is one of three MSc students who will conduct mangrove research under the EIDR project in Oriental Mindoro. Her proposed study will examine macrofaunal communities and sediment characteristics across different mangrove stands, contributing to our understanding of these coastal ecosystems.
