In a news released by Carbon Credits, the blue carbon market is projected to grow rapidly in the next decade, as demand increases for high-quality carbon credits from coastal ecosystems such as mangroves, seagrasses, and salt marshes. Mangrove restoration currently leads the market because of its strong carbon storage potential and established restoration approaches, while seagrass projects are also gaining attention.
With the recent launch of the Philippines National Blue Carbon Action Partnership (NBCAP) Roadmap, these opportunities are becoming increasingly relevant for the country. The NBCAP Roadmap seeks to strengthen blue carbon governance, establish carbon credit systems, and promote sustainable financing for the long-term conservation and restoration of Philippine blue carbon ecosystems.
