The Blue CAP study produced BlueCarT: a user-friendly, open-access data analytic platform that ensures systematic monitoring and reporting of BC assessments. It consolidates meta-analysis data and the study data to create a comprehensive picture of BCE health, extent, and carbon dynamics.
The platform is simple enough for enthusiasts to explore, yet it is also comprehensive enough for decision-makers to benchmark restoration and conservation outcomes against set TECS/ restoration area targets for both carbon permanence and additionality. Through consolidated data inputs, a situational analysis on how grassroot actions and initiatives for BC conservation and restoration advance relative to C targets for permanence and additionality. For example, it can serve as a tool for scenario modeling and policy evaluation, enabling users to visualize trade-offs and benefits of various interventions, such as expanding MPAs or restoring AUU ponds.
We hope that BlueCarT will encourage policy makers, scientists, and communities to continue investing and supporting mangrove and seagrass as NbS for CCAM in their community.
