To harmonize the national blue carbon profile of Southeast Asian countries and Timor-Leste, UNDP Indonesia arranged a regional training workshop last 23-28 June 2025 in Bali, Indonesia. The training workshop invited 11 national experts and a technical team member from the participating countries. A team from the Faculty of Geography at Universitas Gadjah Mada(UGM) introduced a set of standardized methodologies that they developed for the project. Seagrass and peatland carbon stock mapping were discussed in a classroom setting, while practical sessions were held for field survey and biomass measurement techniques and laboratory analysis procedures. The team also developed and discussed a unified reporting template for national blue carbon profiles. The structured discussions and field demonstrations allowed the participants to gain hands-on experience and common understanding of the full blue carbon assessment process.

The workshop is part of the project “Amplifying Blue Economy Growth through Enhanced Blue Carbon and Finance Profiling,” under the ASEAN Coordinating Task Force on Blue Economy (ACTF-BE), convened by UNDP Indonesia with support from the Government of Japan.
