PEER-funded PhD student successfully passed the Dissertation Proposal Defense

Yesterday, on December 15, Maria Elisa B. Gerona-Daga, a Ph.D. Biology candidate of the Institute in Biology, UP Diliman, presented her dissertation proposal entitled “Photosynthetic performance and its role in vegetation structure, productivity, and nutrients in different mangrove stands.” The dissertation is being conducted under the guidance of Dr. Salmo. The Dissertation Committee, consisting of Dr. Richard MacKenzie (Research Ecologist – USDA Forest Service) and Dr. Leilani G. Sumabat-Dacones (Faculty – Institute of Biology, UP Diliman), are serving as dissertation readers.

The presentation was conducted in a hybrid format, with Dr. MacKenzie participating remotely from Palau. More than 10 participants joined the meeting virtually, engaging in a comprehensive discussion on the intricate aspects of Ms. Gerona-Daga’s research.
