PEER ManCoRe participants greeted by Dr. Val and Dr. Grow on their 1st day at the Great Lakes Research Facility in the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee – School of Freshwater Sciences.
A 2-day intensive training on Pb-210 dating technique was conducted by Dr. Jessie Grow at Val’s laboratory. Dr. Grow supervised the entire training and processing of mangrove sediment samples. For three weeks, the participants successfully completed the processing of all mangrove sediment samples from the project sites in the Philippines. This training was part of a National Academy of Sciences (NAS) – USAID Partnership for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) funded project that the US Forest Service is working on with the Institute of Biology, UP Diliman. Dr. Richard MacKenzie, the PEER ManCoRe’s US collaborator, officially invited the participants for the training.
