InMSEA gives insights on PH blue carbon status

Our colleagues from the Integrated network-based Management for Southeast Asia coasts (InMSEA) project published the paper “Status, limitations, and challenges of blue carbon studies in the Philippines: A bibliographic analysis” this year led by Russel Christine B. Corcino with co-authors Maria Elisa B. Gerona-Daga, John Kenneth R. Fraga, Shaina C. Samoza, and our very own project leader Dr. Severino G. Salmo III. Climate change continues to threaten our environment with too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Through time, blue carbon studies came into existence to help the society understand how our environment has a “nature-based solution” to the continuous rise of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. However, there are gaps that are needed to be addressed in the field of scientific research as well as addressing pressing concerns in existing policies and management strategies.
